The Chetak electric scooter from Bajaj Auto is currently available in 20 Indian cities, notably Goa, Delhi, and Mumbai. According to the corporation, in the initial six weeks of 2022, the firm doubled the Chetak network.
Post-two-decade hiatus from scooters to concentrate exclusively on motorcycles, Bajaj re-entered the scooter market with the Chetak throughout 2020. Chetak electric scooters were only available in Pune and Bengaluru at their launch. Chetak has continued to grow its footprint in new cities and states ever since.
Waiting-Time & Cities Where Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter is Available
The Bajaj Auto electric scooter is presently available with a 4 to 8 week wait time. Customers interested in renting a unit could do so through the company’s authorized website.
In 2022, Chetak expanded its network with 12 new cities. This year, new cities included Coimbatore, Kochi, Madurai, Kozhikode, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, Hubli, Nashik, Surat, Vasai, Delhi, and Mapusa.
Likewise, Bajaj Auto has declared a $300 million investment to expand its electric vehicle production capability. Executive Director of Bajaj Auto, Rakesh Sharma, said during the occasion, “Chetak’s success has been built on the quality of a thoroughly tested, dependable product. An on-ground network of sales and service reduces a customer’s anxiety venturing into an unfamiliar category such as electric scooters. Our plan is to double Chetak’s network in the coming few weeks to accommodate the high demand.”
Both the Urbane & Premium Chetak trims are mechanically comparable since they both use the same 3.8kW motor powered by a non-removable lithium-ion battery 3kWh IP67 pack. Chetak has yet to develop swappable/removable battery technology, even though many other electric scooters do. According to Bajaj Auto, the scooter has a top speed of 70 kmph and a range of 95 kilometres (in Eco mode).
