Supreme Court Plea on Online Exams for 10th and 12th Tomorrow
The plea, which concerns CBSE, state boards, ICSE, and the National Institute of Open Schooling’s class 10 and class 12 exams, is nominated for urgent consideration.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court decided to hear a petition seeking to have the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and many other boards stop physical examinations scheduled for classes 10 and 12 for the year. On Wednesday, February 23, the case will be heard by Justice A M Khanwilkar’s bench.
Following daily infections topped the 3.4 lakh level in January, India has reduced instances. The increase was attributed to Omicron, a highly contagious strain that caused a worldwide increase in Covid cases. In the wake of Covid’s worries, the Supreme Court shall hear a petition on conducting class 10 and 12 exams online on Wednesday.
According to the news agency, the appeal – which concerns CBSE, state boards, ICSE, and the National Institute of Open Schooling – was called for urgent listing in front of a bench of Justices Dinesh Maheshwari, A M Khanwilkar, and C T Ravikumar.

Classes and exams have now been forbidden all around the globe since the pandemic began.
Students from over 15 states filed a petition seeking an alternative assessment system for the forthcoming board exams. The petition requested that the CBSE and other educational boards that have suggested offering board exams for classes 10 and 12 in an offline format devise alternative evaluation methods. Students have been assessed based on internal exams and a method conceived by the board the year before. CBSE, CISCE, and other state boards sought to examine students based on alternative evaluation criteria, and students were assessed based on internal examinations and a method devised by the board.
The dates for class 10 and 12 term 2 exams have been released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Exams for term 2 will begin on April 26. However, the ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12 exams are expected to be held in the last week of April by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). CISCE said during a statement that the exact timetable would be revealed soon.
