Pre-Auction Scenario

You might be aware that the IPL teams have the right to retain certain players for their team before the IPL auction 2022. Usually, the teams try to retain Indian and foreign players who contribute to the team’s success; However, each one of the existing franchises can retain only four players. The last date for submitting the retained player list before the IPL 2022 mega auction was November 3o. However, the above-mentioned list is not indicative of the order of retention. The order of retention is important in the IPL 2022 auction point of view because the first retained player will be retained for 16 crores, the second for Rs. 12 crores, the third for Rs. 8crore, and the fourth player is for 6 Crore. Therefore this will influence the purse amount left for the teams in IPL mega auction 2022. The teams have also come up with a list of released players. The Purse Value of The 8 Teams

Since the franchises have released the list of retained players, it is easy to estimate the purse value of the teams as they go in for the IPL mega auction 2022. The purse value of the teams are as follows:

The purse value of the new IPL teams 2022 namely Lucknow Nawabs and Ahmedabad Lions, are 60 and 53 crore rupees, respectively. This is because the Lucknow Nawabs have chosen three players, namely KL Rahul-15 crore, Marcus Stoinis 11Cr, and Ravi Bishnoi 4 Crores, from the list of released players. Similarly, Ahmedabad Lions have chosen three players, Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan, for 15 crores each and Shubman Gill for Rs. 7 Crore. You might be aware that as per the IPL rules, the new IPL teams 2022 can only choose three players from the pool of released players. Also, they can choose only one foreign player.

All About the IPL Mega Auction 2022

Reports suggest that about 1000 players have registered their names for the auction. However, 250 of them will be shortlisted for the Tata IPL MEGA Auction 2022. It is called TATA IPL 2022 because they are the title sponsors of the IPL Championship Tournament 2022. Out of the total 27 Players retained in the eight existing teams 19 of them are Indian Capped players. You have 4 capped foreign players and 4 uncapped foreign players.

The TATA IPL Mega Auction 2022 Date & Time

The IPL mega auction 2022 will be held on the 12th and 13th of February 2022. All 10 teams will participate in the mega auction event. The teams are well aware of the purse amount left with them by now. As mentioned earlier, each team’s purse amount depends on the number of players they have retained and the cost at which they have retained or chosen them. In this light, Punjab Kings has retained just two players, and they have a huge purse amount of Rs.72 Crore. The venue for IPL auction 2022 is Bangalore. Therefore, you can say that the stage is now set for the mega auction and tightly fought IPL tournament following the IPL 2022 mega auction.
